Now it's time to review Sunsoft's first attempt at a fighting game.

Graphics:

Graphically, Galaxy Fight was a master piece! It not only animated well but utilized cheesy special effects in the backgrounds to give it that 3-D look. It even had nice little touches like how your character's colors are slightly changed depending on the background. That's something I've never seen done before, or ever again! Even by todays standards, Galaxy Fight is Beautiful! Unfortunately, most of the cheesy special effects don't show up when emulated. Quite unfortunate mostly because few people will notice and try to fix that little problem. Because of this, I STRONGLY recommend buying the Saturn version if you have any intrest in the game. It's practically arcade perfect, has even better CD quality sound, allows you to assign moves to buttons, and there's a code to play as the 4 secret charcters in versus mode! Overall graphics score: 10/10

Gameplay:

This is where poor Galaxy Fight falls short. This game was made before Super Bars and combos, so it doesn't have all the modern bells and whistles. The lack of chip damage is also a problem, especially because the computer loves to turtle. The un-labled buttons don't really add or detract from the gameplay and the wall-less arenas are a nice concept that worked pretty well here. Character balance also needs to be addressed. Most characters have a decent selection of 3 to 5 special moves giving them more variety than any Capcom fighter, however, move distribution is completely unbalanced. Really I guess it was a matter of what they could come up with and fit in. The end result: Alvaan with 7 moves, almost all projectiles, and Musafar with 2. All this could have been overlooked if it weren't for the AI. The AI is good, too good! It will pummel you for the slightest mistake and not let you get anywhere. Thus, few people saw past the first person they fought. While most of the characters and AI were good enough to leave a good first impression, Musafar isn't. Unfortunately, there's a 9 in 10 chance you'll fight Musafar first, especially if you pick Roomi! And Roomi is who most people pick. Musafar is a disgrace and if he were cut out, it would do the game a LOT of good. First of all, his stage is atrocious. Next, his music ain't all that great. He doesn't animate half as well as the other characters and only has 2 moves. And last but not least, HE'S THE HARDEST OPPONENT IN THE GAME! If you ignore Musafar, it's a pretty fun game though. But Musafar really does hurt this game, BAD! Overall gameplay score: 6.5/10

Sound:

Sunsoft does it again! BEAUTIFUL! From the crisp character voices to the kick ass music, it's all good. Roomi sounds energetic and ditzy, G.Done sounds bad ass, Rolf sounds like a stupid moron who's like Robert but cocky-er, and Kazuma sounds like he wants to…CHOP YOU INTO PIECES! The music is awsome, spanning many genres. We have Rolf's heroic rock track, Kazuma's eerie robo-ninja-techno-opera, Roomi's Jungle J-Pop, Juri's cheese metal, G.Done's techno song that's a goofy techno rap in the Saturn version, Alvaan's Rock Opera, and even Musafar's Junk of the Empire. Yeah, it's all good. This game actually has the most vocal songs of any of Sunsoft's fighters, there are 3 tracks: Roomi's, G.Done's, and Kazuma's all have some vocals (listen CLOSELY on Kazuma's). It even has a special vocal track for Roomi's ending (PANTS! PANTS!). Overall sound score: 10/10
